DHAKA, Nov 11, 2023 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Monitor, a travel publication, has

introduced a new award program for the travel, tourism, and hospitality

sectors to recognize the people and organizations for their valuable

contribution towards developing these sectors in Bangladesh.

The names of the awardees will be announced at a gala award ceremony in May

next year after following certain procedure including the public opinion.

These were revealed today at a press conference held at Bangabandhu

International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital, said a press release

here.

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Professor Shibli Rubayet Ul

Islam, Bangladesh Tourism Board CEO Abu Tahir Muhammadd Zaber and editor of

the Bangladesh Monitor Kazi Wahidul Alam spoke at the conference.

The awards will be given under four broad segments - tourism, travel,

hospitality and restaurants.

A jury panel comprising representatives from relevant fields, civil society,

media, and others will select the awardees.

Judgment will be conducted based on online public opinion, overall public

perception, jury panel's opinion and other criteria. CSR activities

undertaken by the organizations will also be taken into consideration, said

the release.

 

 

24 dev projects of Khulna to boost up country’s economy

 

KHULNA, Nov 11, 2023 (BSS)-The projects which are going to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday, will boost up country’s economy with a revolutionary change in line with the development of last 14 years.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate 24 development projects and to lay foundation another five projects at the grand rally here on November 13, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Khulna Pulak Kumar Mondal told BSS.

Of the projects, the Education Engineering Department (EED) has implemented 11 projects, the Public Works Department eight projects and five other projects of the Department of Local Government, West Forest Division of the Sundarbans and the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE).

Besides, a total of five projects including two of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) will be inaugurated on that day, Mr Mondal added.

Educationist Professor Anwarul Kadir told BSS that during the regime of Ershad and BNP, the south-western part of the country was underprivileged. Side by side with the digitalization of educational institutions, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made a remarkable change by establishing and renovating 11 educational institutions by the EED in Khulna Division.

In order to present the true history of the Liberation War to the new Generation, the Genocide and Torture Archive and Museum building has been established, he said.

Shekhertek eco-tourism center under the Sundarbans Ecotourism Facility Expansion and Development Project by the Sundarbans West Forest Division will contribute to the economy of Bangladesh and the government will earn a handsome amount of revenue from the foreign tourists, Sheikh Ashrafuzzaman, President of Khulna Unnyan Sangram Samonnya Committee said. 

Building of Khulna BSTI regional office was a crying need for the companies and business owners and at the same time people of the region to get original products specially food items. The local businessmen, owner of factories are getting the BSTI approval from Khulna, Kazi Aminul Haque, President of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The two bridges over Bhadra and Kurulia rivers by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) will minimize the transportation cost, he said adding that it will contribute much to the agriculture and farmers to get more profit due to less transportation cost.

The sanitary landfill of Khulna City Corporation is an important project to keep the environment clean and public health safe, he added.

 

 

 

MANIKGANJ, September, 19, 2023 (BSS)-The government has distributed incentives among 3850 poor and marginal cultivators for boosting the cultivation of Black gram (Mash Kolai) in all seven Upazilas of the district, the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said here today.

The DAE office sources said the government has distributed five kilograms (kgs) of Blackgram seeds for cultivating one Bigha land and fertilizers including 10 KGs of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10 KGs of Muriate of Potash (MoP) among the farmers free of cost.

The distribution of the incentives has already been completed among the selected cultivators. The lists of the recipients were made by the union level committees. DAE office disbursed the allocated incentives through the Upazila Nirbahi Office for distribution among the cultivators.

The Department of Agriculture Extension office has set a target of 6712 hectares of land brought under Black gram cultivation in the district during the current season with a profuction target of 7048 metric tons of Black gram.

Deputy Director of the DAE Abu Mohammad Enayet Ullah said the soil of the district specially in the Char areas are very much suitable for Black gram cultivation and the cultivators of the areas cultivate the Black grams in their land as pulse and as well as cattle heads fodder, adding that the cultivation has already been started in the Char areas of the district as there is no flood or rain water. Manikganj is one of the areas where the black gram grows abundantly, the DD said.

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 20, 2023 (BSS)-Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office Tofazzal Hossain Mia today said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Industrial City, built in Mirsrai upazila, Chattogram, is fully prepared with all the facilities for investment.

“It would create employment opportunities for as many as 14 lakh people and Bangladesh would prosper with the income generated from industrial zone. A total of five companies have come into production. Three more companies will start production early next year,” he told the journalists after visiting the various factories of 'Bangabandhu Shilpanagar' at Mirsari upazila here.

Chattogram district administration organized the visit at the said area.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dream industrial city is being built on 33800 acres of land and secured all the facilities for industrial investment including gas, electricity and water supply.

He said employment opportunities will be provided to 139 affected families in the industrial city.

The principal secretary said garments, agricultural products, agricultural processing machinery, integrated textiles, leather and leather products, shipbuilding, motorbike assembly plants, food and beverages, paints and chemicals, paper, plastics, light engineering (auto- including parts and cycles), pharmaceutical products, electricity and solar parks will be set up in this industrial city.

Divisional Commissioner of Chattagram Mohammad Tofail Islam, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chattagram range Nur-e-Alam Mina, Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman, Superintendent of Police AKM Shafiullah and senior administration officials were present.
