The Alberta New Democrat Caucus of parliament, in collaboration with the Provincial Assembly, a bill was raised in recognition of the Bengali New Year. Dennis sanmanita olarda, MLA, it was tabled in Parliament. It was welcomed by a huge applause respected legislator.

 Honorable Speaker of the House of deep interest to the Bengali New Year Robert E. Warner said very seriously.

The players of the MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club are inviting the people of Edmonton to a sportive charity event in an effort to collect donations for the victims of the Fort McMurray wildfire. The sports event is organized by the MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club under the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF) in assistance with the Bangladesh PressClub Centre of Alberta (BPCA).

On January 25, 2016 the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) has decided on the nominees for the Ekushey Heritage Award 2016. Honoured will be three people of the community, Delwar Jahid, Ms. Morsheda Begum, Salma Jahan.
